The organising committee for the upcoming edition of Alicante Gastronomic, "the most experiential fair on the national scene," convened this Wednesday at the IFA Fira Alacant facilities to finalise the programme of activities, review the number of exhibitors and participants, and advance the planning of the agenda for contests and competitions of this edition. The proposal for Alicante Gastronomic 2025, scheduled from October 3 to 6, aims to consolidate key events such as the II International Paco Torreblanca High Pastry Award for the Best Chocolate Cake in the World and the III Spanish Tortilla Championship, according to the organisers.
The Committee comprises the business fabric of the Alicante province's gastronomy sector, sponsoring companies, and the bodies promoting this event: Alicante Chamber of Commerce, the Provincial Council of Alicante, and the Valencian Government. Attendees included the president of Alicante Gastronomic, Gema Amor, the director of the Alicante fair institution, Alejandro Morant, and representatives from APEHA, ARA, ALROA, DO Vinos de Alicante, Carrefour, Tescoma, Carmencita, Estrella Levante, Coca Cola, Neolith, Harinas La Encarnación, as well as the Costa Blanca Tourism Board and the Valencian Government.
Three months before its commencement, the organisation has already reserved nearly 95% of the space in the two pavilions of IFA Fira Alacant and has a comprehensive schedule of activities catering to all sectors of gastronomy, cuisine, and the agri-food sector, as well as proposals for restaurants, bakeries, wines, oils, and the full range of products necessary for any table, the same sources highlight.
Meeting point for all sectors
The president of Alicante Gastronomic, Gema Amor, described this event "as the meeting point for all sectors linked to gastronomy, cuisine, and the Mediterranean diet. It brings together great figures such as Martín Berasategui, Jordi Roca, Paco Torreblanca, Quique Dacosta, Carme Ruscalleda, Susi Díaz, and Oriol Balaguer, who have confirmed their presence at this new edition."
Amor emphasises that "Alicante Gastronomic is not just a gastronomic fair of great figures, but a unique meeting point where one can experience a thousand experiences in four days, thanks to the offer we are preparing, where visitors – with or without preparation – can discover and enjoy tastings, exhibitions, tastings, workshops, conferences, demonstrations, and a myriad of activities that make Alicante Gastronomic the most interactive sector fair in all of Europe."
The last edition, held last year, exceeded 78,000 visitors over the four days of the event, which brought together 250 exhibitors and attracted more than 7,500 accredited professionals. The public enjoyed activities held on seven different stages, participated in over 200 lectures, 80 workshops, and 40 tastings and degustations that were part of the 2024 programme.
This event brought together professionals boasting 120 Michelin Stars and Repsol Suns, the best culinary masters of Spain gathered at Alicante Gastronomic, which took place in the 36,000 square metres that make up the two pavilions of IFA Fira Alacant. Additionally, Alicante Gastronomic hosted 14 different competitions with 400 professionals participating.
