Firefighters in Alicante remain defiant despite recent commitments from the local government to improve their working conditions. The Alicante City Firefighters Platform has expressed dissatisfaction over the postponement of a meeting initially scheduled for May 12, now delayed to June 2. They believe this delay represents a breach of commitment and causes growing concern among SPEIS professionals as the Hogueras approach.

The group reminded that they submitted their main demands to the Town Hall back in February. While acknowledging progress in dialogue, they assert that less than a month before the Hogueras, "no effective improvements have been consolidated." They hope that June 2 will result in concrete actions and call for a General Negotiating Table before June 13, warning that the workforce will consider resuming protests if there is no clear response.

The firefighters have expressed their gratitude to the Town Hall's Staff Board for their support in these demands, which they consider crucial for ensuring decent working conditions and a quality emergency service for the city.

"Damages" in the auxiliary park renovation

The Firefighters Platform has also voiced dissatisfaction with the work on the new Jesús González Soria auxiliary park. This week, they conducted a visit where they noted an operation already deemed complete according to the specifications, despite "numerous damages" persisting.

"There are countless deficiencies that have not been addressed," they warn. These include broken skylights, incomplete ventilation systems, faulty sockets, and unrepaired windows, among others.

The Platform has appreciated the commitment from the Infrastructure Service to handle these repairs. "We trust the process will be swift and that all these damages will be repaired as soon as possible," they stated in a communiqué. They urge urgent action to ensure the facilities are fully operational as soon as possible, especially considering the relocation of personnel and 24-hour emergency coverage without delays due to the central park's relocation from Ildefonso Prats.
