Alicante-Elche Airport is on track for its best year ever, with each month confirming this trend. Between January and May, the terminal located in El Altet has broken historical records for travellers in each period, surpassing 2024 figures, with 7.3 million users having flown through the Alicante airport so far in 2025.

May continues to confirm the trend, recording the highest figures in its history for this month, with 1,850,620 passengers, a 5.8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data published this Thursday by airport operator Aena. This marks the fifth consecutive month of record-breaking figures and the highest number so far in 2025.

Once again, international traffic has propelled the airport to new heights, with 1.62 million of the 1.85 million passengers recorded in May, representing a 7.5% increase compared to the previous year. On the domestic front, with 224,623 travellers, the figure fell by 5%.

The United Kingdom remains the top market, with 637,443 passengers. Germany ranks second, unsurprisingly, as the second international destination with the most routes, reaching 112,760 passengers. The Netherlands, with 111,597; Belgium, with 88,876; and France, with 87,450, complete the list.

In terms of operations, these also set a monthly record, with a total of 11,697 operations managed in May, marking a 6.2% increase compared to the same month in 2024, according to Aena data.

May's figures add to an excellent start to 2025, with records in each month and nearly 7.3 million passengers, almost 11% more than the first five months of 2024. Additionally, flights increased by 11.5%, reaching 46,681 operations.

New Routes

Looking ahead to the high season, the 30 airlines operating have scheduled more than 14.7 million seats. This extensive offering elevates Alicante Airport to the best summer season in its history, with 226 routes to 120 cities and around 30 countries.

New routes from Ryanair, Wizz Air, and EasyJet, among others, and the addition of frequencies to the most established connections, have taken the airport's offering to unprecedented levels, reaching around 30 countries for the first time, with new cities like Salzburg, Belgrade, and Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.
