Javi Bosque's workweeks were once a relentless cycle of seven days on repeat. This Alicante native balanced his profession as an oncologist with his -until now- hobby, music, through his band Malafé, with which he has toured stages across the peninsula.

Despite living both of his dreams -also becoming the guitarist for Funambulista-, this Alicante native has made a decision: to pause his medical career to devote himself entirely to his musical side and dedicate himself fully to his band, which was born in a city attic and continues to grow, Malafé.

In both good and bad times, music has been an essential and important factor in Javi Bosque's life. He began playing at the age of eleven and has not stopped since. Music has helped him face every challenge, both during his residency -when he recorded his first singles and solo album- and throughout the pandemic.

During those months when there were only two options, "work at the hospital or stay at home," he recalls. Instead of sitting idle, Javi Bosque also took the opportunity to care for himself by "improving" his composing skills. This led him to create Malafé, an "exciting" project that over the years "became serious."

As the band gained weight and ambition, this Alicante band has toured all over Spain, even "opening for Funambulista at the WiZink Center," Javi Robles proudly shares before confessing that Malafé has been "a great gift."

Thus, to do justice to both the band and his dedication and ambition, this Alicante native has decided to follow this path and put all his effort into it. "We cannot reach the end of life without doing the things that have made us happy," he explains, a lesson also taught by his years working in the palliative care unit.

Therefore, after months and weeks of thinking and rethinking, he has seen a great opportunity in the work of recent years. Diego Cantero's call, leader of Funambulista, to offer him the guitarist position has also played a part: "The stars have aligned to make the decision."

For Javi Bosque, music "is something difficult to explain," he confesses while sorting through his mixed feelings. "It's an energy that makes you get up every day and wakes you up at night," which is why he has decided to take that "train that only passes once in a lifetime" to embark on an experience he "never would have dreamed of before, to be brave and do what makes me happy."
