HLA Alicante Dismisses Coach Pérez Caínzos

HLA Alicante announced this Tuesday the dismissal of their coach Antonio Pérez Caínzos. In basketball circles, his departure was expected for several weeks, but it was the last defeat against Fuenlabrada (69-81) that exhausted the patience of the management.

With this measure, the Lucentum Foundation aims to change the erratic course of a team that has lost all five games played in the Primera FEB, the second division of Spanish basketball.

"Antonio Pérez Caínzos will no longer lead the first team of Lucentum Alicante. The club wants to thank him for his professionalism and dedication since he joined the organization in June 2023, achieving a playoff position last season. We wish him the best of luck in his professional future. Raúl Lozano will take charge of the first team and will lead the team in the next Friday's match against Palencia. Lozano has been an assistant coach of Lucentum Alicante for the last five seasons," stated the club's announcement.

On the other hand, the Lucentum Zona Norte Project is now a reality. Training sessions have already started in Colonia Requena, and the most important social project in the history of Lucentum Alicante is underway. Its main objective is to create neighborhood identity through sports, establish links with society, and integrate all its children.

The HLA Lucentum Alicante club, in collaboration with the Kali Nord fan club, the Alicante City Council, and sociologist Alicia Martínez Moreno, promotes this social initiative to create a basketball team under the club's umbrella, aimed at children and adolescents in the Zona Norte of Alicante, specifically in the Colonia Requena neighborhood.

The vice president of Lucentum Alicante, Ignacio Alonso, is excited to be part of this project: "It is the most exciting one we have participated in. It combines sports, solidarity, integration, and healthy living. We could not look the other way, in what could be the social project of our lives and the one that will mark a before and after. Lucentum fans will feel very proud, and why can't it extend to other neighborhoods in the city?"
