More parking for the beach of San Juan. The Alicante City Council has agreed with local residents and businesses, following various complaints and claims, to reorganize the road section connecting Costa Blanca Avenue with the Pau 5 roundabout.
Thus, the road linking Coruña and Democracia squares will change from having parallel parking to angled parking, gaining new spaces. To achieve this, the City Council will remove one of the lanes heading towards Pau 5.
This modification of the roadway will also include the reduction of speed on this avenue at San Juan Beach. The aim is to enhance safety for both pedestrians and drivers after two serious accidents were recorded.

In this way, the current dual carriageway connecting San Juan Beach with Pau will be adapted to increase parking, switching from parallel to angled parking as seen on the opposite road where Cirque du Soleil is located.
Regarding the timeline for this avenue's transformation, the Urban Mobility Councillor, Carlos de Juan, has stated that municipal technicians are "working on the planning of the signage change with the aim of implementing the modification as soon as possible."

This section will be similar to the rest of Costa Blanca Avenue, which has one lane in each direction in its central route. This allowed for the installation of the Tram line running through the central strip, converted into a green corridor within San Juan Beach.
The reorganization of this avenue will include new traffic light regulations at the Locutor Pepe Mira Galiana roundabout, better known as 'the Golf roundabout', where priority will be given to vehicles exiting from Pau 5 via the Avenues of Nations and Oviedo.
More parking at Pau 5 and bike lane
At the same time, Carlos de Juan has committed to studying the "possible expansion of spaces" on other roads in Pau 5, as well as the relocation of the bike lane on Maestro José Garberí Avenue to move it from the side pavement to the central boulevard.
The aim is to "improve pedestrian safety and coexistence in this area," within the development Pau 5 is experiencing with "new needs and the adaptation of road characteristics to improve aspects such as mobility and safety."
