The Provincial Court of Alicante has sentenced a man to 22 years and 6 months in prison for murder with the aggravating factor of kinship. The man killed his partner in Torrevieja, dismembered the body, and disposed of the remains in various rubbish bins. The sentence reflects the guilty verdict delivered by a popular jury at the end of the trial and sets a compensation of 150,000 euros for each of the deceased's two children.
The events occurred on October 27, 2021, when the accused, now 73 years old, attacked his partner in their shared home, inflicting numerous stab wounds on different parts of her body, as detailed in the judicial resolution. After causing her death, he dismembered the corpse and disposed of various parts in rubbish bins and other nearby locations.
The judge who presided over this trial considers the accused guilty of a doubly qualified murder: with premeditation and cruelty, aggravated by kinship. He imposes the penalties requested by the prosecution: 22 years, 6 months, and 1 day in prison.
The court also prohibits the convict from approaching within 500 meters of the deceased's two children or communicating with them by any means for ten years and sets a supervised release measure for the same period.
The sentence is not final and can be appealed before the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.
