Common front in Alicante to oppose the installation of fuel depots at the Port of Alicante. The City Council and the Port Authority have joined forces in a joint strategy to present before the Constitutional Court to prevent the establishment of this storage facility in the city.
Mayor Luis Barcala and the President of the Port Authority, Luis Rodríguez, have devised a new joint strategy following the rejection by the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) of the Community of the municipal appeal that seeks to annul the authorization of the fuel depots.

The judicial route "remains open," highlighted Barcala while announcing that the City Council is finalizing the submission—"already planned from the outset"—of an appeal to the Constitutional Court against the rejection already presented to the TSJ.
"Under no circumstances will we accept the installation of fuel depots that neither the city of Alicante nor the Port want," emphasized Barcala this Wednesday. "No one can force us to have facilities that face widespread opposition from the citizens and the Port Authority itself, and we are working together with the Port to coordinate and promote alternative actions," he insisted.
Regarding the TSJ's resolution, the mayor explained that "the only thing it enables for the depot developer is the environmental license, but the necessary construction and activity licenses, among other procedures, are still pending, so there is still a long way to go before it can be assumed that this fuel storage facility will be installed at the Port."
The mayor also addressed the depot developer, XC Business 90, urging them "to contact the City Council, provided they are willing to fully renounce the installation of this fuel storage facility at the Port of Alicante."
