The province of Alicante experiences the autumn equinox this Sunday, September 22. It will be at 14:44 hours when the change of season becomes official and summer bids farewell. Autumn will last 89 days and 21 hours, ending on December 21 with the start of winter.
The cold will take time to arrive, according to Aemet, as autumn, between these last weeks of September and the upcoming month of December, is expected to be drier and warmer than usual in much of the Iberian Peninsula.
However, it will be in the east, location of the province of Alicante, where temperatures will be higher than normal for this time of year.

The curiosity of this Sunday, September 22, is given by the equinox, that is, the duration of the day will be the same as that of the night because the sun is over the equator.
The days will get shorter as autumn progresses. This is because sunrises are delayed by one minute each day, just as sunset advances by 60 seconds.
This is due to the tilt of the Earth's axis, which varies and gives way to the seasons. Thus, the sun ceases to be present approximately three minutes less each day during autumn.
Therefore, nights extend and it becomes time to change the clock to switch to winter time. For now, the clocks remain as they are. The last Sunday in October is when they will be set back one hour.
Thus, from October 27, the time change will occur when at three in the morning it will be two again, gaining an extra hour that day.
