The province of Alicante has celebrated the traditional slaughter festival, the latest event of the Alfonso Mira Gastronomic Encounters. The event, held this Saturday, was fully booked, attracting over 287 attendees.

This new gastronomic gathering combined tradition and community spirit, immersing guests in the deeply-rooted customs of traditional cuisine.

The second gastronomic encounter showcased the artisanal process of pig slaughter, beginning with the butchery and preparation of homemade sausages. "It's a practice passed down through generations," organisers noted.

The festival's highlights continued at the table, featuring a tasting of calçotada and a large barbecue, where aromas and flavours took centre stage at this 'Alfonso Mira Gastronomic Encounter'.

The festivities continued with live music and the warm company of family and friends, recreating a festive atmosphere at Alfonso Mira's restaurant in the Alicante town of Aspe.

Upcoming events: Sea and Michelin

The 'Alfonso Mira Gastronomic Encounters' will continue throughout March with new culinary proposals, including the highly anticipated 'Sea Cuisine from Malaga and Alicante', featuring fresh products from Benalmádena and the Alicante coast.

Another highlight will be the 'Fusion Cuisine' menu, featuring eleven chefs from across Spain, alongside a special event led by 22 Michelin stars and 23 Repsol Suns, promising an "unrepeatable" menu.
