Explaining its functionality alone is overwhelming: an artificial intelligence (AI) tool trained with over 874,000 medical images, capable of generating detailed clinical reports in just a few minutes. This is the DiagnoScan AI project, developed in Alicante, which has become a semi-finalist in the eAwards Spain, a technological entrepreneurship award celebrating its 24th edition this year.
DiagnoScan AI combines AI algorithms with language models (LLM) to generate automatic and explanatory diagnoses from CT and MRI images. The tool allows images to be analysed in less than two minutes with clinical precision, generating detailed and comprehensible reports for medical staff, according to its developers.
The images used to train and validate this tool are provided by various clinics; a task that will also serve as the basis for a scientific article. The goal of DiagnoScan AI is to become a transversal tool that can be used in hospitals and health centres, starting with critical pathologies such as intracranial haemorrhages and strokes, and expanding to breast cancer and others.
This Alicante project is one of seven technological initiatives in the Digital Health and Biotech categories participating in the first semi-final on Monday, 2nd June. The winner will receive a €10,000 grant, a personalised acceleration programme to bring it to market and boost its business, and a direct pass to the international final of the Global eAwards, where it will compete against winners from other countries in Europe and Latin America for a prize of $100,000.
