More than 15,000 people visited the Alicante Book Fair. in early April. These are the figures provided by the City Council after the balance and count of these five days in which Séneca Square became the epicenter of literature and culture.
The City Council describes this record as a 'success', marking 'the definitive take-off'. In this vein, the Councillor for Culture, Antonio Peral, highlighted that 'we are on the right track' to enhance the event for future editions.
The report -prepared by the City Council and the stall managers- includes between 2,000 and 3,000 attendees at talks and colloquiums and at the author signings organized, excluding those at the bookstore stalls, while 350 attended storytelling and workshops for children, and 151 attended school visits, totaling 500.
The 55th edition of the Alicante Book Fair also gathered 230 authors, double that of the previous year, and featured 22 official book presentations.
Additionally, complementary activities such as musical performances and poetry recitals were organized. An children's tent was also set up, and the exhibition 'Ahab and the White Whale. Manuel Marsol' was displayed.
Thus, upon learning all these figures, the Councillor for Culture emphasized the 'municipal commitment to continue improving' in future editions and to maintain the pace of proposals: 50% of the authors attending on behalf of the organization, excluding those signing at the bookstore stalls, were national and the other half local.
