Alicante Actor Triumphs in 'Wicked' Musical After Dancing with Rihanna, Shakira, and Becky G

The Alicante talent triumphs in the musical 'Wicked'. ATG Entertainment's new production has cast Alcoy actor Aaron Mata in this international show, which has been running continuously for 21 years on Broadway and 18 in London, and will arrive in Spain next October.

The Alcoy native embarks on a new chapter in his professional career in the world of entertainment. He has worked with artists such as Rihanna, Shakira, Becky G, Todrick Hall, and Jason Derulo, and has danced in shows like Operación Triunfo and served as a choreographic assistant on La Voz.

The professional dancer and choreographer, trained as a gymnast, began his academic training at the 'Juan Cantó' Conservatory in Alcoi, before moving to Madrid, Los Angeles, New York, Valencia, Barcelona, and London.

Additionally, Aaron Mata has choreographed artists in various television programs such as Baila como puedas, Secret Story, or Idol Kids; and has been part of the cast of 'Mamma Mia!' as a swing in the first season and part of the second until 2024.

The Alcoy actor was chosen for the musical 'Wicked' from over 3,500 resumes received during the six-month pre-selection period and the thousand auditions conducted before deciding the final cast.

During this new season in the musical 'Wicked', at the Teatro Nuevo Alcalá in Madrid starting this autumn, Aaron Mata will portray the character of Chistery, along with other appearances in the ensemble cast.

It was this Thursday that ATG Entertainment announced the complete cast of 'Wicked': Cristina Picos will play Elphaba, Cristina Llorente will step into the role of Glinda, Lydia Fairén will be Nessarose, while Javier Ibarz will portray the Wizard.

The list of protagonists continues with Xabier Nogales as Fiyero, Guadalupe Lancho as Morrible, Esteban Oliver as Dillamond, and Neizan Martín as Boq.

Completing the cast are Aaron Mata, Carles Vallés, Antonio Mañas, Esteban Provenzano, Odo Cabot, Nacho Porcar, Jon Ipiña, Iván Amigo, Óscar Muñoz, Gallo Ryan, Jessica Garcés, Laura López, Mia Lardner, Clara Rengel, Carla Places, Anna Coll, Lucía Ambrosini, Laura Enrech, Julia Saura, and Belén Marcos.

'Wicked' will transport audiences to the magical Land of Oz, long before Dorothy's arrival, to uncover the moving and untold story of its legendary witches.

This story, an adaptation of Gregory Maguire's successful book, features two young witches whose lives are destined to change forever.

On one hand, Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, is a young woman with emerald green skin, passionate and extraordinarily talented, yet misunderstood and rejected by society. On the other, Glinda, the future Good Witch of the North, is beautiful, ambitious, and very popular.

Despite their initial differences and the rivalry that arises between them, Elphaba and Glinda forge an unexpected but deep friendship. However, their paths diverge due to the pressure of a world that does not tolerate differences and decisions that will mark their destiny forever.
