The City Council accelerates the comprehensive reform project of the Local Police station in the Juan XXIII neighborhood "with the aim of improving its facilities to provide better service to citizens and continue strengthening security in the North area," according to the Infrastructure councilor, Cristina García. The renovation of this police station is part of the agreements reached by the Government team with the municipal group of Vox for the approval of the municipal Budgets of 2024, although the local Executive's goal is for the project to be included in the municipal accounts of the next fiscal year.
"We have already held a first meeting with Local Police officials and Vox councilors to specify the needs of the agents and how we can improve the public service at the Juan XIII station," explained Cristina García. The Security councilor added that in the coming days they will hold another meeting to expedite this reform project to include it in the 2025 Budgets "and provide all the necessary means and improvements so that this essential public service is provided in the North area with full guarantees of efficiency and security."
Meanwhile, the deputy spokesperson of Vox, Mario Ortolá, expressed that his party remains very concerned about the safety of Alicante residents in the North Zone, as well as the safety of our agents, who have the Juan XXIII-second sector station as their operational base and who a few months ago suffered a security incident that, unfortunately, could happen again at any time."
"Therefore," he added, "in the 2024 budgets we include the comprehensive reform of said station to turn it into a functional public service police station with all the necessary security measures and infrastructure that our agents need and deserve."
Ortolá further stated that "security is a fundamental pillar in Vox's policies for Alicante residents, and this involves providing all the technical and human resources to our agents, especially in the North Zone. We cannot continue to have them abandoned in a facility that today does not even have a door for vehicle access."
