The appearance of the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, at Les Corts to report on the management of the DANA has been postponed due to the red alert for rain in the northern and southern coastal areas of the province of Valencia. In light of the emergency alerts, the head of the Consell has rescheduled his intervention for Friday, 15th November.
The appearance has generated much anticipation as it means the president will address the Chamber to answer some of the questions raised in recent days. It is expected that he may announce government reshuffles and restructuring during this intervention. Additionally, he is anticipated to clarify doubts regarding other controversial issues about the management during the initial hours of the DANA, when the Cecopi waited several hours for his presence before making decisions.
The alert from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the coastal areas of the province of Valencia has escalated from orange to red by mid-afternoon, resulting in the closure of schools and the issuance of several emergency warnings.
Aemet forecasts a probability of accumulated precipitation of up to 180 litres per square metre (l/m2) in just 12 hours. The alert is active from 9:00 PM on Wednesday until 12:00 PM on Thursday, with the peak of meteorological "adversity" expected overnight.
The state agency warns that the danger is "extreme" and there is a possibility of river overflows and flooding. In this situation, extreme caution is advised, and travel should be avoided.
