Alejandro Iturbe, a Promising Goalkeeper for Elche CF

Elche CF has officially announced the signing of Alejandro Iturbe, a 21-year-old goalkeeper from Madrid, who joins from Atlético de Madrid. The agreement includes a contract until June 2029, with a transfer deal that allows the rojiblanco club to retain 50% of the player's rights for a potential future sale.

Having been trained at Atlético de Madrid's academy since the age of 5, Iturbe has been a regular in the colchonero reserve team, playing 34 matches last season under Fernando Torres. His performance has caught attention not only for his reflexes and reliability in goal but also for his ability to play with his feet, a skill increasingly valued in modern football. Additionally, he was part of the Spanish team that won the Olympic gold in Paris 2024 as the starting goalkeeper, further solidifying his international prospects.

This summer, Alejandro Iturbe also played a significant role with the Spanish under-21 team in the European Championship. The goalkeeper started in three of the four matches played by the national team, leaving a positive impression while defending the goal, especially in the group stage matches against Slovakia and Romania.

Despite his young age, the aim is for him to compete directly with Matías Dituro, who renewed his contract after being named the best goalkeeper in the Second Division, to ensure a reliable goalkeeping position as the franjiverde club returns to the top tier of Spanish football.

Elche has described the Madrid-born player as "one of the goalkeepers with the greatest potential in Spanish football. His agility, presence in goal, aerial security, and good footwork have made him a standout within his generation."

The new franjiverde goalkeeper is the third signing of this transfer window, following the permanent acquisition of Germán Valera and the arrival of Léo Petrot last Friday.
