The Three Wise Men from the East will once again parade through the streets of Alcoy on January 5th, in what is considered the oldest parade in Spain. As usual, three local entities will collaborate in organizing the parade, assisting and accompanying the three kings. This year, they will be the Alcoy Artistic Skating Club, the Casa de Andalucía, and the Mudéjares Filà.

The Alcoy Artistic Skating Club was founded in 1991. It caters to a hundred skaters, ranging from beginners to competitive groups. Additionally, it offers extracurricular classes in various educational centers.

The Casa de Andalucía in Alcoy began its Cultural Entity 50 years ago, on July 15, 1974, in the city's historic center, with 15 founding members, led by Alberto Emilio García Rodríguez, who was the city's mayor at the time. This makes the Casa de Andalucía in Alcoy one of the oldest recognized by the Junta de Andalucía.

The Mudéjares Filà celebrated its 120th anniversary this year, having first appeared in the 1904 glory. This filà has only accompanied a King from the East once, and it has been many years since it last participated in the parade, with its last appearance in 1993.

One of the oldest in the world

The Alcoy Three Wise Men Parade has been held continuously since 1885, although its documented origins date back to 1866. It is undoubtedly the oldest Three Wise Men Parade in Spain and possibly in the world. In November 2001, the Alcoy Three Wise Men Parade was declared a National Tourist Interest Festival, and on December 23, 2011, the Valencian Government approved its declaration as a Cultural Interest Asset (BIC).

"The Christmas festival is the result of the selfless participation of many entities. This participation of thousands of people is a highlight of our Christmas, and we want to thank them all for their work and dedication. I also want to emphasize that every year, we receive dozens of new groups and associations interested in contributing, and we continue to work to ensure the magic of Christmas reaches everyone," stated the Festivities Councillor, Jordi Martínez.
