Alcoi continues its path of economic growth with an increase in the number of companies exceeding one million euros in annual turnover. According to the economic activity census prepared by SUMA Gestión Tributaria, in 2024, a total of 643 companies have been registered at this turnover level, which represents an increase of 45 compared to the previous year and 94 compared to 2022, when 549 companies were recorded in this category.
The Mayor of Alcoi, Toni Francés, has positively analyzed these figures and highlighted that they reflect the strength of the city's business fabric. "This growth not only demonstrates the consolidation of our companies but also generates employment, boosts the local economy, and reinforces confidence in our development model. Alcoi is positioning itself as an industrial and business benchmark in the Valencian Community."
This increase in company turnover adds to other positive indicators for the city, such as the decrease in unemployment and the rise in population. Currently, the number of unemployed in Alcoi stands at 4,525 people, representing a 4% reduction compared to the same month last year. Furthermore, the city has experienced population growth, reaching 60,372 inhabitants, consolidating an upward trend. Regarding Social Security affiliation, Alcoi is recording the highest figures in the last 15 years, with 17,274 people affiliated, reflecting a solid and expanding labor market.
Another key aspect of Alcoi's development is its ability to retain talent and foster the creation of new companies thanks to its university campuses. Educational institutions in the city, such as the Alcoy Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, play an essential role in training highly qualified professionals and generating innovative business initiatives. "We have an ideal ecosystem for young people not only to train in Alcoi but also to find opportunities here to develop their business projects and contribute to our economy," Francés highlighted.
The Alcoi City Council has promoted various initiatives to strengthen the local productive fabric. In recent years, more than 9 million euros have been allocated in collaboration with Ivace to improve industrial estates, as well as implementing incentives to promote economic dynamism, job creation, and energy transition. "Our goal is to continue supporting companies and attracting new investments that contribute to the sustainable development of the city," added Francés.
"We work to continue achieving economic growth and the well-being of the people of Alcoi, betting on active policies that favor job creation and talent attraction. With these figures, Alcoi consolidates itself as a dynamic city ready to face future challenges," concludes the mayor.
