Compromís misses Mónica Oltra. They have no qualms about admitting it, not just privately but also publicly. The Iniciativa executive has already expressed its unconditional support for the former vice-president of the Consell, and on Wednesday, the coalition's spokesperson in Les Corts, Aitana Mas, stated: "I hope Mónica Oltra returns to the political frontline."
The statement was made by the spokesperson from Elche during a public appearance with the municipal spokesperson for Compromís in the Alicante City Council, Rafa Mas. However, the coalition is aware that Oltra's legal situation is delicate, as she is being prosecuted by the Provincial Court of Valencia. Nevertheless, it is also true that the former spokesperson is one of the coalition's greatest assets.
Therefore, they respect Oltra's current silence and "we will not force any statement," Mas declared. The future of the former vice-president will depend more on her own desires than on the judicial resolution. Iniciativa, at least, has been waiting for her "for a long time," indicated the current spokesperson in the regional parliament.
The representatives of Compromís in the Alicante City Council and Les Corts made these remarks in response to questions from TodoAlicante during the presentation of an initiative to implement an 'eco-tax' on the island of Tabarca.
This measure would consist of a minimum entry fee for all tourists to the island of Tabarca, which would be reinvested in public services and the protection of the heritage of this natural reserve in Alicante. It would also serve to create free public transport for the 50 registered inhabitants of the island, the smallest inhabited in Spain.
This initiative is not new, as it is already applied in other protected environmental areas such as the Cíes or Columbretes. The price would be set in an agreement between the City Council and the Generalitat Valenciana, so Compromís will also take it to Les Corts, but they understand it would not exceed three euros. A price similar to that paid in the aforementioned areas.
This entry system would also allow for controlling the number of people arriving on the island. Currently, there is no fixed number. Various studies estimate that between 250,000 and 300,000 people visit the island.
An eco-tax for every tourist to pay a minimum fee that benefits the island, public services, and heritage protection.
It will allow knowing how many people visit the island of Tabarca, between 300,000 and 250,000 according to several studies. "N
