Protecció Civil has ordered the confinement of the population in Cervera due to smoke from the fire in Granyena de Segarra (Lleida), which affects an area of approximately 247 hectares, mainly agricultural land. The Bombers de la Generalitat are working this Saturday afternoon with more than 80 units.
The Bombers received the alert at 13:27 and by 17:20 they continue to work with 74 ground units and 10 aerial means, deployed over a work area of about 410 hectares, where the fire spreads rapidly through unharvested fields, as reported in several messages on X collected by Europa Press.
The A-2 highway is completely closed between Cervera and Tàrrega in both directions, with detours signposted towards the AP-2 at Soses, and the roads L-303, L-311B, LV-2141, and N-IIa in Cervera and N-IIa in Granyanella are also closed, according to the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT).
The Bombers have also requested the confinement of Granyanella, la Curullada, and Fonolleres, and to limit traffic on roads near the fire in the region.
The fire may have started in a burning vehicle and then quickly spread through the fields, according to initial investigations by Agents Rurals.
Protecció Civil has activated the Infocat plan due to the simultaneous fires in different parts of Catalonia, as the Bombers are also working on two other fires in Sant Esteve Sesrovires and Sant Salvador de Guardiola (Barcelona), and has asked the public not to travel to the affected areas to facilitate the extinction efforts.
