Las Hogueras de San Juan in Alicante are just around the corner. With the arrival of June, the city's official festive month has begun, and the fogueril calendar is tightening. The first fire was lit last Sunday, June 1st, with the paella contest at Lo Morant Park and will continue throughout this week with two beloved events for foguerers and barraquers: the proclamation and the Ninot Parade.

But first, to announce to all of Alicante that the festivities are near, on Wednesday the inauguration of the lighting for the 2025 Hogueras will take place: a total of 678,335 LED lights will illuminate the official route covering Alfonso El Sabio Avenue, La Rambla, Altamira-Jorge Juan, and the Town Hall Square.

The official lighting of the Festive Lights will occur at 9:30 PM in the Town Hall Square by the belleas del foc, Adriana Vico and Valentina Tárraga, with the mayor, Luis Barcala, members of the Corporation, and representatives of the festive collectives.

Nearly 680,000 LED lights are distributed across more than 150 luminous elements, including arches, decorative pieces, and spotlights that will shine on the official route of the Hogueras.

From this Wednesday until June 14th, the lights will be on from 9 PM to 2 AM. On the main days, from June 15th to 24th, the lighting extends until 5 AM. Once the festivities are over, from June 25th to July 1st, the lights will be on until 2 AM.

The lighting is the prelude to a festive weekend that will begin this Friday, June 6th, with the Proclamation Parade, which this year will be led by designer Rubén Hernández. The commissions are called to gather around Plaza de España to, as every year, honor a memory at the Monument to the Deceased Foguerer and Barraquer. From this point, the Proclamation Parade will begin towards the Town Hall Square, where the proclamation will be read on a stage located on the same street. The instability of the Town Hall's balcony has forced a change in the location of the event.

Subsequently, the party moves to the Ocean Race area of the port with a fireworks display.

Proclamation Parade Schedule

  • - 6:30 PM: Music for a Festival, Plaza de España

  • - 7 PM: Tribute to the Deceased Foguerer and Barraquer. Josep Amand Tomás will act as the presenter, Plaza de España

  • - 7:30 PM: Proclamation Parade (Plaza de España-Town Hall Square)

  • - 9 PM: Hogueras Proclamation. It will be delivered by the Alicante fashion designer, Rubén Hernández

  • - 11 PM: Proclamation Party. Ocean Race area of the port of Alicante

  • - 12 AM: Fireworks display.

The Hogueras activities this June weekend will continue on Saturday, the 7th, with the Ninot Parade, which will start at 7 PM from Luceros Square to continue along Alfonso El Sabio Avenue, Rambla de Méndez Núñez, Altamira Street, and Town Hall Square. The next day, the Turis pyrotechnics will feature a mascletà (2 PM) as part of the 'Pólvora tot l´any' cycle, near the Puerta de Alicante shopping center.
