Alicante warms up. Just a few weeks remain until the grand days of June, and the city already feels the heat of the Hogueras. The agenda for the coming days highlights the official events kicking off with the opening speech.
Both the bonfire and barraca committees, as well as the City Council and Federation, fill the festive calendar with numerous events that anticipate the warmth and excitement of the city's official festival days.
This week, the week of the opening speech, begins and continues with exhibitions and presentations of 'llibrets'. One such event is 'Everything That Doesn't Burn (in Fogueres)' inaugurated this Tuesday by the Port d'Alacant bonfire at the Casino Mediterráneo hall.
Regarding 'llibret', presentations continue this Wednesday in Puente-Villavieja, Santo Domingo-Plaza de Tomás Valcárcel, and Carolinas Altas, as well as on Thursday in Francisco Albert and La Florida. The talk 'It's Over' will also be held at the San Antón Bajo bonfire.
These events serve as a prelude to Friday, June 6th, which is packed with activities to kick off the Hogueras of Alicante with music, parades, and parties.
Agenda for June 6th: Opening Speech Day
The official agenda for this Friday will start at 6:30 PM with the 'Music for a Festival' event. A thousand musicians will surround Plaza de España to perform several pasodobles, including 'Josep Amand Tomàs', marking the start of the opening speech day.
After the concert, events continue with a tribute to the deceased bonfire and barraca members at 7 PM. Festive participants will gather in front of the Pepe Gutiérrez sculpture to pay tribute to their loved ones. The host will be the president of Sèneca-Autobusos and Fogueres Especials d'Alacant, Josep Amand Tomàs, marking his 50th anniversary as a bonfire member.

Thus, after the speeches and the offering of flowers and wreaths, the bonfire and barraca committees will line up to celebrate the first official parade, the opening speech parade. They will depart from Plaza de España towards the City Hall starting at 7:30 PM.
The opening speech event features a significant change this 2025. Both the speaker and the authorities, including the 'belleas del foc' and their 'dames d'honor', will be at ground level due to the closure of the City Hall balconies in Alicante.

From a platform, the costume designer and designer Rubén Hernández will deliver the opening speech for the Hogueras of Alicante 2025, while the 'belleas del foc' will shout 'Ja estem en Fogueres'. Afterwards, they will move to Pier 12 of the Port of Alicante to celebrate the opening speech party, which will feature a fireworks display.
Additionally, the Port d'Alacant bonfire has organized a parallel party to welcome the 2025 Hogueras. It will start at 8 PM near Pier 10 of the Port.
Agenda for June 7th: Ninot Parade
Saturday's schedule will be highlighted by the Ninot Parade of the Hogueras of Alicante. The committees will parade in costume along the official route - from Luceros to the City Hall plaza - to showcase a preview of the creations they will display in their streets and squares in just a few weeks.
The parade will start at 7 PM from the Plaza de los Luceros, where the bonfire and barraca committees will enter from the Federico Soto and General Marvá promenades. The Federation expects the parade to conclude around 9:30 PM.
Agenda for June 8th:
Sunday's schedule continues with another mascletà from the 'Pòlvora tot l'any' cycle in sector 2. The Turis Pyrotechnics will launch the display at 2 PM near the Puerta de Alicante shopping centre.
Other events on Sunday include the proclamation of the godmothers and honorary positions of the Som fills del Poble barraca and the presentation of 'llibrets' and sketches of all the bonfires and barracas that make up the San Blas group. This will take place at 7 PM in the newly inaugurated plaza of the neighbourhood.
