Two afternoons with José María Manzanares and Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez's farewell in Alicante, as exclusively reported by TodoAlicante. These are the main attractions of the Hogueras Bullfighting Fair, which will take place from June 20 to 29, reviving the San Pedro gathering, at the city's arena.
The 2025 lineup includes a dozen events, featuring five bullfights, one rejoneo, one novillada with picadors, two practical classes, and a recortes show. During this cycle, "it is expected to surpass last year's over 12 million euros."
This was the assessment of Mayor Luis Barcala when presenting the poster for the San Juan and San Pedro Fair, declaring that "Alicante is bullfighting" and is "positioned" on the international scene as "a fair to keep attending."
To promote this Fair, the lineup features top-ranking figures such as Roca Rey, the debut of novillero Marco Pérez in Spain as a bullfighter, and the six bulls in solitary by Victorino Martín, to be fought by Manuel Escribano.
The poster for the Hogueras Bullfighting Fair in Alicante includes various combinations of events starting at 7 PM, from June 20 to 29.

Nacho Lloret, manager of Eventos Mare Nostrum, explained that the design of this edition's poster "shows Manzanares performing a natural" and "reproduces the design from the 80s-90s," which are displayed in the corridors of the Alicante bullring.
In his defense of bullfighting, Mayor Luis Barcala cited Victorino Martín's proclamation, who had already announced the 2018 Hogueras Fair, to assert that "culture is not imposed by any ruler, it is chosen by the people. Attending a bullfighting show is an exercise of freedom because it also entails the obligation to preserve and defend Bullfighting."
All this has led him to conclude that "the sum of these statements leads us to affirm that in this city, there is a belief in freedom. Therefore, Alicante is bullfighting."
