Heavy rains had put the province of Alicante on alert this Saturday. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued an orange alert for showers that could accumulate up to 40 litres per square metre.

According to data from the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet), towns like El Verger exceeded 40 l/m2, while in Alicante, San Vicente, or El Campello, heavy downpours surprisingly left 20 litres per square metre in several areas in just a few hours.

Now, after the storms, calm has returned to the province. The city of Alicante awoke to a summer scene, with sun and warmth expected in the coming days. With highs of 26 degrees and no alerts on the horizon, the beaches are crowded.

Thus, Postiguet Beach was filled with tourists and locals sunbathing and swimming in the Mediterranean waters. This Saturday marks the beginning of several consecutive days with high temperatures, reaching up to 30 degrees by midweek.

MeteOrihuela warns of several continuous heat anomalies in the coming weeks, with a particular emphasis on the interior regions of the peninsula, in interior valleys, where the absence of breezes will lead to intense heat.

Thus, along the Mediterranean coast, although a significant rise in temperatures is expected until June 16, the increase will not be as pronounced. In fact, southern Alicante municipalities like Orihuela will reach up to 31 degrees on Wednesday, while the interior is expected to see up to 33 degrees on the same day.
