Continues the episode of rain in the province of Alicante. After several storms surprised the capital and nearby towns on Wednesday, the storms return this Thursday with accumulations of up to 20 litres per square metre.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has reactivated the yellow alert on the southern coast and inland of Alicante for storms that could bring small hail and accumulations of up to 20 litres per square metre in an hour. The warning will start at 12 noon this Thursday and will be in effect until 8 pm the same day.
This is the second consecutive episode of rain in the southern part of the province following the storms that surprised on Wednesday. The rains began in the north of the province but moved south past midday, bringing heavy downpours in a matter of minutes.
Rain has practically stopped on the Alicante coast. 36.8 litres have accumulated at the Ciudad Jardín observatory and 47.6 in Alicante-SAIH.

At the Ciudad Jardín observatory, it hasn't rained this much in 24 hours (in any month of the year) since May 23, 2023 (38.8)
In fact, according to Aemet data, 36.8 litres per square metre were accumulated at its Ciudad Jardín observatory in Alicante, while Alicante-SAIH reached 47.6 litres per square metre, also affecting towns like San Vicente or Elche.
Aemet warns that "at the Ciudad Jardín observatory, it hasn't rained this much in 24 hours during any month of the year since May 23, 2023." Thus, the agency highlights that this Thursday has started with "many clouds in Alicante and with storm clouds at sea" that have not reached land but have left some showers in the Marina Alta.
