Rain returns to the province of Alicante. After some brief showers earlier this week, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in the province's interior, which may be accompanied by hail.
Aemet warned last Sunday of a week with widespread showers across the peninsula, especially on Monday, May 5. After a couple of days with scattered and occasional rainfall, mainly in the peninsula's interior, rain is expected to return on Thursday.

Forecasts indicate showers that "could be strong or very strong and accompanied by thunderstorms." These will particularly affect the interior of Alicante, where rains could accumulate up to 20 litres per square metre and be accompanied by hail.
The alert will be in effect this Thursday from midday until 10 PM. However, Aemet does not rule out extending this alert as the date approaches. In fact, Aemet warns that "showers and thunderstorms are expected, likely to be locally strong in the afternoon in interior areas, though not ruled out elsewhere."

In fact, showers are also expected, although much lighter, in coastal areas, which will also experience high temperatures with maximums reaching up to 26 degrees in Alicante on Friday, while in the interior areas, temperatures will exceed 22 degrees.
MeteOrihuela warns that this alert "could extend to more areas as the date approaches" and stated this Monday after brief showers swept through parts of the province that "we will have to wait until Thursday for these rains to be general and significant."
Looking ahead to the weekend, although Aemet has indicated that alerts could be modified as the week and the front progress, rain is expected across the province of Alicante in the coming days, with light rain on Saturday and more intense showers on Sunday.
