AEFA, the Family Business Association of the Province of Alicante, is set to launch the 'Family Business in the Classroom' programme. Sponsored by CaixaBank and in collaboration with the Department of Education, Culture, Universities, and Employment of the Valencian Government, the initiative aims to introduce young people to the realities of family businesses, promote entrepreneurship, and highlight the values underpinning this business model.

"Among the various initiatives we develop at AEFA, one of our main priorities is to convey to society, especially to the younger generation, the values of family businesses and their importance in the economic development of our region, thereby fostering entrepreneurship. This programme is another step towards showcasing our work and assisting those who wish to embark on entrepreneurial ventures," commented AEFA President Maite Antón.

Antón was accompanied at the presentation by Daniel Mc Evoy Bravo, Regional Secretary of Education; Marta Armendia Santos, Director General of Vocational Training; Olga García, Regional Director of CaixaBank in the Valencian Community and Murcia Region; and Francis Carbonell, a member of AEFA's Board of Directors.

'Family Business in the Classroom' is an educational programme with a province-wide impact in Alicante, enhancing the curriculum content for 3rd and 4th-year ESO, 1st-year Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training related to business and entrepreneurship. The project includes talks by family business owners at educational centres, student visits to participating companies, and the distribution of a didactic guide developed in collaboration with the Department of Education. This document provides methodological guidance for integrating the programme into the academic curriculum, promoting practical learning and direct engagement with the business environment.

"We want young people to dismiss easy ideas, to be aware that earning a living requires effort, but that anyone can become an entrepreneur, from any productive sector, and they will see this with the companies that collaborate and will teach them many things," concluded the Regional Secretary of Education.

This edition of the programme will be conducted across the nine districts of the province of Alicante, connecting 12 family businesses with educational centres to promote awareness of the significance of this business model, reaching over 400 students.
