Viajes El Corte Inglés' adjustment plan, announced a week ago, will ultimately affect a total of 520 employees, according to the document presented by the company. However, the firm insists on "its commitment to maintaining employment."
In the proposal, the company, besides offering a plan for incentivised redundancies, has proposed the transfer of workers from central offices to agencies. El Corte Inglés maintains that the adjustment is due "to the incorporation of new technologies and the development of processes implemented by the company, which have led to an improvement in management, allowing for the optimisation of central services to benefit the commercial network."
The company has presented, in the first meeting of the negotiation table, which includes Valorian and CCOO, the technical report justifying and explaining the measures, along with more documentation on the centres and potentially affected employees.
Following the proposal, Comisiones Obreras has expressed its opposition to the plan, stating that its stance "will be the same as in previous ERTE and ERE processes: to defend above all the interests of the workers, both those who wish to remain in the company under the best possible conditions and those who may wish to leave, we insist, in a completely voluntary and incentivised manner."
The union has explained that in the next meeting on January 21, they will be able to present "new queries and observations on this documentation" to the consultancy responsible for the study and conclusions on the measures to be taken.
