Additionally, visitors can participate in a special talk during the zoo experience that will detail the conservation status of Indian rhinos and Terra Natura Benidorm's experience in their care. Through these actions, the park reaffirms its commitment to the conservation and protection of Indian rhinos ('Rhinoceros unicornis'), a vital species for ecosystems but severely threatened by poaching and habitat loss.
Among the highlighted activities is a themed gymkhana in the Asia area of the park, where participants will test their knowledge about Indian rhinos. Those who complete the challenge will receive a diploma as recognition.
Terra Natura Benidorm will also have an informational stand managed by the Education Department, where visitors can enjoy educational games like 'True or False' and a visual memory game designed to teach more about rhinos in a fun way.
In parallel to public activities, the team of veterinarians and caretakers at Terra Natura Benidorm participates in a specialized training program in behavioral management and animal welfare, which has led to significant advances in the care of various species in the park.
During this week, on the occasion of World Rhino Day, part of this training has focused on the care of this species. The overall goal is to improve both caretaker safety and animal welfare.
In this regard, Terra Natura Benidorm is recognized as a reference center for the conservation, care, and breeding of Indian rhinos in Europe. The park is part of the European Endangered Species Program (EEP) and has achieved two Indian rhino births, in 2012 and 2019, being the only park in Spain to do so. Additionally, it collaborates with the 'International Rhino Foundation' for 'in situ' conservation of wild rhinos.
