La Generalitat has set up two new pedestrian access points at the Alicante train terminal, specifically in the area affected by the future Central Station of the Tram d'Alacant works. The two pedestrian ramps, adapted for people with reduced mobility, allow entry from the south side to the Adif car park, which continues to operate, and from the main facade on Salamanca Avenue, according to sources from the Valencian Government on Wednesday.
The Consell highlights that both facilities "have been designed to meet safety and universal accessibility standards in terms of widths, slopes, and the presence of railings, handrails, and opaque sheet fences for protection during the works." Additionally, the necessary signage has been incorporated to guide users and lighting at the point enabled from the car park, facilitating safe use at night, according to the same sources.

The Generalitat emphasizes that the ramp installed on Salamanca Avenue in Alicante, which will remain operational until the works are completed, "substantially improves accessibility from the main facade of the station, as there was previously no direct access." This situation forced people with reduced mobility to enter the railway terminal from the north and south sides of the station.
In parallel, the express passenger parking areas on Bono Guarner and Alcalde Millà Santos streets, with access from Aguilera Avenue, continue to operate, the Consell details in a statement. Entry to the parking area is still via Aguilera Avenue, through Alcalde Rafael Millá Santos street.
Last February, Generalitat sources added, the signage was also improved with information on changes to routes and access in all streets adjacent to the construction area.
The works of the future Central Station of the Tram d'Alacant, executed by the Conselleria de Medio Ambiente, Infraestructuras y Territorio together with Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), have a budget of 102 million euros and an execution period of 52 months. The project includes the construction of a 72-meter-long tunnel section, connecting with the infrastructure already executed under the Station Avenue, and the new underground Central Station, equipped with the corresponding accesses and vestibules, and the floor that will house platforms and the four tracks, with their respective infrastructures and installations.
Currently, the construction of the first pilot screens on Salamanca Avenue is underway, tasks that will continue throughout 2025. In parallel, the new provisional car park is being prepared, which is expected to open to the public this coming summer, according to official sources.
The Central Station will create a major intermodal hub that will connect long-distance flows, Tram d'Alacant, and urban, metropolitan, and interurban bus services, emphasizes the Conselleria.
