The Cultural Federation of Andalusia in the South of the Valencian Community (FECUAS) commemorates once again, alongside the Provincial Council of Alicante, its traditional 'Day of Andalusia'. The president of the provincial institution, Toni Pérez, and the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, participated this Saturday at the ADDA in the celebration of this event, "which highlights the close ties and the extraordinary relationship that exists between both territories".
"We are here to celebrate your roots and the deep sense of attachment that binds you to your land, but also to share together that love for your traditions and culture," added Pérez.
For his part, Barcala emphasized that the 80,000 Andalusians living in this province "contribute to Alicante being known worldwide as an open and welcoming city and enrich us daily with the customs and traditions of their wonderful land".
During the course of the event, which was attended by more than a thousand people, the honorary title of 'Andalusian of the Year' was awarded to Victoria Martínez Raya, president of the Andalusian Cultural Association of Torrevieja.
The president, who received the same recognition in 2023, expressed his admiration for the Andalusian people, for their history and for everything that constitutes their cultural, recreational, and festive heritage. "Your rich legacy enhances our own, and together we make this a respectful, plural, and supportive land," he noted.
The 'Day of Andalusia' featured the participation of various rociero choirs and dance groups from the regional houses integrated into FECUAS.
