The firefighters have rescued a 70-year-old hiker at les Fonts de l'Algar. The woman suffered a fall that caused an ankle injury, preventing her from continuing her visit to the natural site, and had to be rescued using a special high-mountain stretcher.
According to the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium (CPB), the incident occurred around 1 p.m. this Wednesday, when they received a report of an injured woman at the natural site of les Fonts de l'Algar, in the Barranco de Sacos area.
After contacting the injured person, the rescue team arrived to assist her, immobilising her ankle with a splint and then stabilising her inside a special stretcher designed for mountain rescues.
The firefighters carried her to the base area, where she was transferred to an SVB ambulance with medical technicians to be taken to a hospital. The entire operation was conducted with the collaboration of park staff and officers from the Callosa d'en Sarrià Local Police.
The operation involved a command unit and a multi-rescue van, with participation from a sergeant, a corporal, and two firefighters from the Benidorm station.
