A 52-year-old man died on Tuesday night in a fire at a two-storey detached house in Das (Girona).
According to a statement from the Bombers, the Emergency Medical Service (SEM) attended to the injured man, but were unable to save his life. A woman was also in the house at the time of the incident and reportedly escaped unharmed.
The Bombers reported that upon arrival, they assessed the damage, which was consistent with a possible explosion, ruling out the presence of flames or gas.
They stated that the explosion caused significant damage to the first and second floors, resulting in structural damage incompatible with habitation. The structure has been cordoned off pending further inspection by the municipal architect.
Five Bombers units, along with patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra, a team of psychologists, two land units, and one SEM doctor, were dispatched to the scene.
