50 Kilometres Running in Alicante to Fight Childhood Cancer

Overcoming childhood cancer with a 50-kilometre race. This is the challenge set by young Alicante native Pepe Moreno, who on July 19 will complete ten laps of five kilometres each on an urban route through the city of Alicante to raise funds for the benefit of ASPANION, the Association of Mothers and Fathers of Children with Cancer of the Valencian Community.

Moreno has been inspired by the initiative of athlete Sergio Turull and his project, which involves running 50km in 50 days across 50 Spanish provinces. He is thus taking on a challenge in his city, hoping that many people will be encouraged to collaborate with the NGO.

The chosen itinerary is a closed route of 10 laps from the Casa del Mediterráneo to the Volvo Zone, and those who wish to participate can join at any point along the way. All funds raised will be used to improve the quality of life for children and adolescents with cancer and their families.

ASPANION is the Association of Mothers and Fathers of Children with Cancer of the Valencian Community. In 2025, the organisation celebrates its 40th anniversary, being the first NGO in Spain to address childhood cancer. Currently, more than 2500 families across the Valencian Community are part of the organisation and benefit from the resources offered.
