Alicante is set to commence the construction of 32 public flats on a plot located at number 5 Ceuta Street, in the San Blas neighbourhood. This new development is intended for social rent. This initiative adds to the two buildings already underway to incorporate another 29 homes aimed at youth emancipation in the Old Town and San Gabriel, with an additional investment of 3 million euros.
The building will feature four floors with 24 two-bedroom apartments and eight one-bedroom units, with the six on the ground floor being accessible. Additionally, there will be a basement level designated for parking and storage. The new building will have a constructed residential area of 2,843 square metres and another 1,084 square metres allocated for garages.
The property will have an A energy rating, making it a sustainable building, and will include pre-installation for five electric vehicle charging points in its garage. The new development of 32 social housing units represents an approximate investment of 3.5 million euros, with a completion timeline of two years.

These 32 homes add to other developments that the Municipal Housing Board has promoted in the San Gabriel and Old Town neighbourhoods. The latter, in El Portón, are the most advanced, expected to be completed by August. They are 15 homes intended for young rental.
This initiative will also improve communications in El Barrio with the upper area of Santa Cruz through a new access with both an elevator and a new staircase, located on either side of the building.
Meanwhile, the building of the old teachers' houses in San Gabriel will house 14 social housing units for young rental. The Local Government Board approved the basic rehabilitation project on March 4, aiming to tender this development with a budget of 1,380,637.51 euros and a 10-month execution period. The works could begin by the end of 2025.
This building, located at number 1 Fernando Díaz de Mendoza Street, will be completely renovated to provide 14 fully accessible flats for young people, with an elevator installation and a ground-floor flat at street level for people with reduced mobility.
