The MotoGP market closed this weekend in Misano with the confirmation of Australian Jack Miller as a Yamaha rider for the Pramac Racing satellite team. The Italian squad was the last to confirm its lineup, having announced Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira two weeks earlier at the same circuit.

The transfer window began back in March when the renewal of champion Pecco Bagnaia with Ducati was made official even before the season started. More than half of the grid will debut new colors in 2025. Additionally, Pramac Racing will switch from Ducati to Yamaha, allowing the Japanese brand to regain its satellite structure and balance the grid with each of the five manufacturers fielding four bikes, except for Ducati, which will have six.

As has been customary in recent years, there will be an overwhelming majority of Spanish (nine) and Italian (six) riders. Spanish motorcycling loses a member compared to 2024 with Aleix Espargaró's retirement and Balearic rider Augusto Fernández not finding a spot for next year; he might become a Yamaha test rider or move to the Superbike World Championship. From Moto2, young Fermín Aldeguer will join Ducati, taking Marc Márquez's place at Gresini Racing. Besides Aldeguer, the other two rookies for 2025 will be Japanese Ai Ogura and Thai Somkiat Chantra, who will be the first rider from his country in MotoGP, replacing veteran Takaaki Nakagami at LCR Honda.

Un terremoto

Apart from the three rookies, nine other riders will change teams in 2025. Undoubtedly, Marc Márquez was the major market mover. His signing with Ducati's official team to join Bagnaia triggered a chain reaction that saw Jorge Martín move from Ducati to Aprilia alongside Italian Marco Bezzecchi, mirroring Martín's move. Consequently, Enea Bastianini, without a spot at Ducati, and Maverick Viñales, likewise at Aprilia, will form a team at KTM's satellite squad. From there, Pedro Acosta, one of the sensations of 2024, will ascend to KTM's official team. Franco Morbidelli will be the last to change colors without switching brands; he will move from his current Pramac team to VR46, replacing Bezzecchi.

Ten riders will not change teams next season. The least movement has been among Japanese manufacturers, which are lagging in development and currently require some continuity to grow. Joan Mir and Luca Marini will remain with Honda's official team, which will lose its historic Repsol sponsor; Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins will stay with Yamaha. Additionally, Álex Márquez (Gresini Ducati), Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati), Brad Binder (KTM), Johann Zarco (LCR Honda), and Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse Aprilia) will continue in their current boxes for the renewed 2025 season.
