El Pla, a neighborhood in Alicante, continues to generate news that concerns residents. The latest incident reported by TodoAlicante involves the arrest of a 14-year-old North African boy for stabbing another teenager on Periodista Rodolfo Salazar Street.
The brawl began around 10:30 PM when the arrested youth, along with friends, stopped a young cyclist with the intent to steal his bike. Ignoring threats, the cyclist fled but was hit by stones, one of which knocked him down, injuring his leg, according to this newspaper's information.
Once on the ground, a scuffle ensued between the group led by the detained minor and the friends defending the injured party; all of North African descent, as confirmed by police sources. Several witnesses alerted the National Police, who dispatched multiple patrols to the scene. Upon arrival, officers encountered a fight involving about twenty minors.
With the brawl under control, officers took statements from several witnesses and the injured party, who identified his alleged attacker. A video recorded by a bystander revealed the minor, who was arrested for robbery with violence and assault, according to the Alicante Provincial Police.
The arrested minor can be criminally charged, as Organic Law 5/2000 establishes criminal responsibility from that age. The minor will face a special criminal procedure before the Alicante Juvenile Court.
More control in the area
The stabbing comes a month and a half after a brutal mass brawl in the Bulevar del Pla, involving dozens of North African and Spanish youths, resulting in a dozen arrests, eight of whom were minors, four injuries, and a confiscated katana.
The National Police have increased their presence in El Pla following recent events to restore security to a neighborhood that once enjoyed tranquility. Police controls are beginning to yield results.
On June 10, a large security operation in Plaza Manila resulted in the arrest of six individuals for immigration violations and pending judicial claims, as well as the identification of 38 others, according to TodoAlicante.

Andrea, a resident of the Alicante neighborhood
The operation was carried out in coordination by agents of the National Police, the Alicante Local Police, and the National Police Attached to the Valencian Community.
