The 13th Edition of the Rural Film Fest Takes Place from June 30 to July 5

The Elche City Council supports, once again, the Camp d'Elx Rural Film Fest. In its thirteenth edition, the festival hosts 60 screenings from 24 countries related to the rural world and the environment.

The event will kick off with screenings on June 30 at the Asprella Civic Centre and will tour the districts of La Hoya, El Derramador, Las Bayas, Puçol, Perleta, Valverde, and Los Arenales del Sol. The festival will conclude with a closing gala presented by actress Raquel Guerrero at the Huerto de San Plácido.

The Councillor for the Environment, José Antonio Román, explained that "in this 13th edition, a preview will be brought to the city where the countryside will be brought to the city, starting this Saturday at the Plaza Mayor del Raval."

A total of 60 films from 24 different countries will be screened. Spain is the country with the most representation, with 24 works, followed by Germany with six. Other participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Hungary, Portugal, and Argentina, among others.

Meanwhile, the Councillor for Culture, Irene Ruíz, highlighted that "the aim is to bring culture to the streets, and the Rural Film Fest is one of the expressions that best illustrates this concept, allowing people to enjoy it."

As a novelty, this year five short films made by students from the La Foia d'Elx, Pere Ibarra, La Asunción, Tirant lo Blanc, and Vicente Verdú institutes will be presented, showcasing the Palmeral of Elche from their perspective.

Entry to the screenings is free and open to the public. Attendees will be able to watch 19 documentaries, 9 animations, and 16 fiction works. Additionally, the children's and family section comprises 16 films, ensuring that the youngest can also enjoy the festival.
