One of the leading references in the Touring segment, the R 1300 RT from BMW Motorrad, arrives in 2025 with a comprehensive overhaul. While maintaining the essence of its predecessor, this new generation introduces exciting innovations that make it an even more comfortable, dynamic, and touring-capable motorcycle, whether riding solo, with a partner, or carrying ample luggage.

The boxer engine of the new BMW R 1300 RT enhances its performance: it features an increased displacement of up to 1,300 cc, thanks to a larger cylinder bore and a new crankshaft with a reduced stroke, and its power rises from 136 to 145 HP, along with greater torque (previously 143 Nm, now 149). In its standard version, it comes with three riding modes. Optionally, it can be factory-equipped with the "Riding Modes Pro" package, which includes additional riding modes such as "Dynamic" and "Dynamic Pro". The engine drag torque control (MSR) is included as standard.

The chassis has been completely redesigned, featuring a main steel frame and an aluminum rear frame, achieving a mass concentration towards the center of gravity. In the suspensions, it includes a front wheel guide EVO Telelever with a flexible element and a new rear wheel guide EVO Paralever. It comes with new 17-inch hollow-spoke aluminum wheels, which weigh 1.4 kg less than the previous wheels.

As an optional factory equipment, a new electronic suspension with dynamic adjustment of the chassis (DCA) is available, allowing for the selection of two riding positions, as well as dynamic adjustment of damping, spring stiffness, and load compensation.

The R 1300 RT comes standard with a dual-disc brake with two radially mounted four-piston fixed calipers at the front and a single-disc brake with a two-piston floating caliper at the rear, in combination with the BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro system.

The ergonomic triangle formed by the handlebars, footrests, and seat of the new R 1300 RT has been designed to position the rider further forward and in a more dynamic stance. The height and angle of the rider's seat can be adjusted to tailor the riding position. Passenger comfort has also been improved: the new panniers now offer more legroom for the passenger without compromising their volume. The passenger seat has also been extended, providing more space to change position occasionally on long journeys. In addition to the standard seat, positioned at a height of 780 mm, other seats are available as optional equipment.

It also comes standard with 27-litre panniers each. For the first time, the Vario panniers are optionally available from the factory, featuring a variable system that allows the volume to be adjusted from 27 to 33 litres to match the motorcycle's width. Both panniers are electrified and can be unlocked via the central locking system. Additionally, both feature interior lighting, and the left pannier includes a USB-C charging port. The two top cases, with capacities of 39 and 54 litres respectively, offer additional storage space. The large 54-litre top case is also electric. A special feature is the heated backrest for the passenger.

Finally, it includes as standard state-of-the-art LED lighting in all elements, with Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with braking function, and a 10.25-inch colour TFT screen with map navigation, which expands its range of functions and offers a new Connectivity Hub to control accessories, as well as a compartment with active ventilation for charging the smartphone with a standard USB-C charging port.
