BMW Motorrad has officially announced the launch of its new R 1300 R 2025, the iconic roadster from the German brand, which receives a comprehensive overhaul for 2025.
The Munich officials state that the new version is "notably more sporty both technically and visually, featuring a dynamic style for an aggressive and athletic design."
The new BMW R 1300 R's two-cylinder boxer engine, air/oil-cooled, is inherited from the R 1300 GS and has a displacement of 1,300 cc. The bore-to-stroke ratio is 106.5 to 73 mm (predecessor: 102.5 to 76 mm). It has a power output of 107 kW (145 hp) (predecessor: 100 kW (136 hp) at 7,750 rpm) and develops a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm (predecessor: 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm), making it by far the most powerful production BMW boxer engine to date. Its maximum speed is 9,000 rpm.
It includes as standard three riding modes (it can also be factory-equipped with the optional Riding Modes Pro) and the engine's Drag Torque Control (MSR). Optionally, the Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) is available with fully automatic clutch operation and manual or automated shifting.
The Performance variant includes sports suspension, short levers, milled and adjustable footrests, DTC-Shift, two additional sports display modes, sports seat, engine spoiler, and sports tires.
Options include seat heating, the Riding Assistant, a taller windshield, and a variety of luggage options.
The ergonomics have been designed to position the rider further forward in relation to the front wheel, thanks to slightly rearward footrests and a flatter handlebar. The seat height is just 790 mm.
The chassis has been completely redesigned. The main steel frame offers higher levels of rigidity than the predecessor model, and the rear frame has also been completely reconfigured, replacing the previous tubular steel construction with pressure-cast aluminum.
It features a new 47 mm inverted telescopic fork, and the EVO Paralever II rear suspension has been revised for even greater handling precision. The new cast aluminum wheels are 1.4 kg lighter.
It also comes standard with the new electronic dynamic suspension adjustment system (DSA), combining dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with the corresponding spring stiffness adjustment, depending on the selected riding mode, driving conditions, and maneuvers.
It is equipped as standard with a dual-disc brake with two radially mounted four-piston fixed calipers at the front and a single-disc brake with a two-piston floating caliper at the rear, in combination with the BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro system.
The new BMW R 1300 R can be equipped with the Driving Assistant, which includes Active Cruise Control (ACC) and Front Collision Warning (FCW).
The standard version of the BMW R 1300 R is offered in "Snapper Rocks" metallic color, with additional variants including the Exclusive variant in Racing Blue metallic, the Performance variant focused on sportiness in bright white, and the Option 719 "Kilauea" in storm black metallic.
