On Sunday, a 13-year-old boy assaulted his 16-year-old girlfriend, who sustained minor injuries, in the well-known occupied building in the Carabanchel district of Madrid.

The incident occurred on the 19th at around 16:00 hours in the building located at the intersection of Excelente and Blanca streets, which was occupied weeks ago by several Peruvian families. Following an argument, the alleged assailant struck his teenage partner alongside several other minors.

A basic ambulance from Samur-Civil Protection arrived at the scene and treated the victim for severe knee pain. However, she was discharged on-site.

National Police officers attended the scene and interviewed the woman, but they could not detain the alleged assailant, a minor known for other violent incidents, as he is not legally accountable. Nevertheless, they filed the corresponding police report, which will be forwarded to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

The Building's Situation

According to initial investigations, a criminal gang allegedly sold these uninhabited homes in the PAU of Carabanchel illegally to families of Peruvian origin for amounts ranging between 2,000 and 3,000 euros. They were offered the homes while waiting in line at a social dining hall of a local church.

The mass occupation took place at 6 Excelente Street in Madrid during the Immaculate Conception holiday. Nearly thirty families arrived at the complex with moving vans and, after changing the locks of the apartments, entered them to the astonishment of the legally residing neighbours who pay rents ranging from 800 to 1,500 euros.

The occupiers have their own concierge who opens the door from the inside by pushing the handle. The legal residents complain that they do not respect community rules, make noise at night, fight, and even have gang members inside.

The owning company has reinforced security measures, installed alarms, and hired an eviction company, whose employees were harassed and attacked by some occupiers when they arrived. Consequently, they have filed the corresponding complaints at the police station. So far, only a few evictions have taken place.

Last Monday afternoon, the Government Delegate, Francisco Martín, accompanied by the National Police Commissioner of the Carabanchel district, held a meeting with several members of the community of neighbours on Excelente Street to understand their concerns. The police have already collected complaints from both legal tenants and some illegal ones claiming they were scammed.
